When a couple becomes parents for the first time, they make quite a lot of mistakes in the first two months. Making mistakes with the first baby is a common thing which is experienced by almost every parent. You wouldn’t believe some of the mistakes some parents make. Some of the most common mistakes made by new parents are:
Panicking when the baby cries
Crying is the natural process that signals a problem with the newborn baby. Babies usually cry when they are hungry, wet their nappies, or when they are afraid of something. Parents should check their babies for these three possible causes at first. It is normal for baby to cry a little. Parents do not need to panic if their child cries because of being hungry or wet. However, if baby cries persistently without stopping and you have fed the baby and his nappy is not wet then you should check for other signs which may cause a baby distress. Because, this time it could be due to illness or pain in the body.
Taking everyone’s advice
New parents are always very worried about the diet and growth of their babies. This leads them to take advice from their relatives and friends. Some people give them advice to bottle feed their baby, some tell them to breast feed them. Some people say giving mashed and blended food to is the best, some say that its best to introduce food in chunks so that baby recognize the food. Altogether, these contrary advices make parents more confused and irritated. According to psychologists, the best thing that a parent can do for their child is to listen to their heart. Do what you think is perfect for your kid.
Got Worried On Little Things
Those who are new to parenting are usually doubtful about everything they do for their infants. They always want to know if they doing everything correctly or not. This makes them worry about the little issues like their baby is wetting his pant too frequently or after a long gap, their baby is taking enough water or not, baby is too hungry or does not want to eat more, how many grams of food should the baby eat etc. All these questions and doubts makes parents extremely worried about their kids. Actually, parents need to stay calm. They should consult a child specialist and dietician for advice.
Comparison with Other Babies
Every child is unique and every child follows a different growth pattern. Many new parents start comparing their babies with others and worry about their growth and development. If they don’t find their baby’s growth as healthy and good as the other babies, they become very anxious. However, the fact is that, every baby is different.
During the first year of baby’s life, the excited parents spend too much on its diapers, food, clothes and toys. They totally forget that, children grow too fast during the initial years of life and clothes become useless after few months. Also, new parents mostly buy inappropriate things like big toys, heavy food etc. that only lead to wasting of money.
The best thing to do is to learn from experienced parents, read articles on parenting from trusted sources, staying in touch with your child’s pediatrician and trying to keep faith in your own parenting style.
